The trail starts in the town of Cabra, next to some water tanks about 100 metres from the old railway station, which has now been converted into the Olive Oil Train Interpretation Centre. For the first kilometre, the trail runs along the railway line towards Lucena, reaching a bridge which we descend to take a path running parallel to a stream on our right, amongst olive trees and brambles, where we can see some isolated patches of woodland and scrub, featuring walnut trees, fig trees, hawthorns, blackthorns, rosemary, etc. At the 3 km mark of the trail, we come to the Fuente de los Frailes, which shares the typical features of the area’s springs. Next to it is an interesting Roman quarry where stone was extracted to produce millstones. From here, there is a gentle ascent of approximately 1.5 km, which ends at the junction with the road to the Ermita de la Virgen de la Sierra. At this point on the trail, we can see the Hermitage to the left and, closer by, part of the Lapiaz de los Lanchares, a spectacular limestone formation. From here, we begin a descent, crossing the A-340 road. One kilometre further on, we come to the Fuente de Jarcas, an inexhaustible spring declared a natural spring in 1958 by Cabra Town Council.
