LOS CAÑOS NATURE RESERVE
A historic fountain with three spouts, surrounded by pine trees and a recreational area, ideal for relaxing and enjoying nature near Benamejí.
This fountain, well known in the region, is situated beside the old Córdoba–Málaga road (N-331a), 1 km from Benamejí in the direction of Málaga, just before the bridge built by Hernán Ruiz II (16th century) over the River Genil. Next to it, surrounded by replanted pine trees, there is a recreational area attached to the Los Caños municipal campsite. For a long time, the site was used as a rest area for travellers travelling along the main road towards Málaga or Córdoba.
The fountain consists of three spouts that flow onto a pillar made of stone slabs, attached to a window of the drinking water pumping station building, which pumps water from the Fuensanta catchment to supply the campsite and, occasionally, Benamejí.
