A long-distance circular route that begins in Lucena, specifically in the vicinity of the Camino de los Poleares, and passes through various municipalities in the northern part of the Subbética region of Córdoba, linking agricultural landscapes, protected natural areas and notable heritage sites.
The route begins along country lanes heading towards the Encina Milenaria, a landmark natural monument in the area. This first section follows wide tracks in good condition, passing through farmland and areas featuring springs and associated vegetation.
From the Encina Milenaria, the route descends towards Zambra, offering views of the Sierra de la Horconera massif. At this point, extreme caution is required when crossing the A-331 road before continuing towards the natural surroundings of the Arroyo de las Tijeras, where the route runs parallel to the riverbed in an area of high ecological value.
The route continues towards Carcabuey along old livestock tracks, notably passing through areas such as the Cañada de Hornillos, where geological features of interest, such as Jurassic fossils, can be observed. After passing through the town centre, the route heads towards the Puente Califal, a historic site that marks a transition within the regional route.
The route then crosses the A-339 road with care and joins the Buitreras path, considered one of the key points of the route due to its status as a mountain pass. From this point, the descent towards Luque follows well-maintained dirt tracks, passing along traditional footpaths until reaching the town centre.
The final stretch continues towards Luque station, where it joins the Vía Verde del Aceite. From here, it is possible to extend the route by following the greenway towards Lucena, thus completing a longer circular route that connects both ends of the itinerary.
This is a major route that covers a large part of the northern Subbética, combining rural tracks, mountain trails, historical heritage and natural areas of outstanding scenic beauty.
