Fuente la Gancha

Fuente la Gancha

The Iconic Carcabuey Fountain
It is situated in the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, between the Pico Lobatejo and Sierra Alcaide mountain ranges, at the foot of the Las Buitreras public footpath, some 5.5 km north of Carcabuey and 300 m north of Cortijo Bernabé. It is accessed via the road (mostly unpaved) that runs directly between Carcabuey and Luque (the Las Buitreras path), from which you must turn off at the Cortijo Bernabé farmstead, entering the property after passing through a metal barrier. The spring has been tapped for many years to supply Carcabuey, although part of the flow is allowed to run into a nearby double rectangular trough for livestock and domestic use (there is a sloping slab attached to it for washing clothes).
