To reach this route, take the A-339 road towards Cabra-Priego de Córdoba; at around the 19–20 km mark, turn off onto the road leading up to Picacho de la Ermita de la Sierra, where, at the 5 km mark, the access track to La Nava begins.
The route runs alongside the River Bailón, crossing the Poljé de La Nava. This is a wide, open plain, surrounded by high mountain ranges, where the river rises and flocks of sheep are often seen. – The route runs partly along the Merchaniega footpath – and features springs with their pillars or drinking troughs, such as those at Cortijo del Pilar.
Upon reaching the Fuenseca stream, the first tributary on the right of this river, following upstream we come to Las Chorreras, a place of great beauty where, in the rainy season, the water flows between the rocks, forming several waterfalls as it cascades down. From here, we can return to the trailhead or continue on to Zuheros. If we choose the latter option, we will pass through a stretch of beautiful holm oak woodland until we reach a clearing, to the left of which lies the Arrebola plain. Shortly afterwards, we reach the Pilar de la Fuenfría and from there take a small path that leads into the holm oak woods. Upon reaching a clearing, we find ourselves facing the cliffs of Cerro del Zumacal, where we begin to descend the Bailón river ravine until we reach Zuheros.
