On Flores de Negrón Street, in Juan Parejo Square, stands this monument which celebrates this Lucena tradition—santería—which has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest as an activity of ethnological significance. Lucena is renowned for preserving its own traditions, such as Santería, which involves carrying the thrones bearing the sacred images on the shoulders; and for both the thrones and the images, we have local craftsmen who work with bronze or wood, and whose workshops you can visit.
