The stage begins in Rute, on Calle Vadillo, initially following the route of Stage 2 and the European GR-7 E-4 trail through the Sierra y Lanchar de Rute public woodlands. Further on, the route joins the Pinar de Rute trail, passing by the so-called Casa del Burro, a reserve managed by ADEBO for the conservation of the Andalusian donkey. The route then heads into the pine forest until it reaches a firebreak much frequented by local walkers. During the ascent, you will come across the Fuente del Hacho spring, which is usually dry. Continuing the climb, you reach the Cerro del Hacho hill, where the medieval watchtower known as El Canuto is situated. From this vantage point, you can enjoy magnificent views of the reservoir and the village of Iznájar, as well as the Sierra de Antequera and the Sierra Nevada. After returning to the forest track, the path continues to the CO-8212 road, near Lanchar de Rute. From there, take the Camino de las Herreras, a track winding through olive groves with excellent views of the Sierra de Rute and the Barranco de la Higuera. Finally, the path passes by the Peñón del Grajo and descends to the hamlet of Las Lagunillas, the end of the stage.
