This stage of the Subbeticana Route is notable for its great geological and scenic value, as it takes you into the Sierra de la Horconera, the most rugged part of the Natural Park, home to La Tiñosa (1,568 m), the highest peak in the province of Córdoba. The route begins in the hamlet of Las Lagunillas, from where we take the public footpath to La Tiñosa, which runs through olive groves at the start. Further on, we enter the picturesque Cañatienda ravine and continue alongside the stream of the same name. The path continues to the ruins of the Cortijo de Cañatienda and its spring, before ascending towards the Puerto Mahina pass, a natural passage between the Sierra de Alhucemas and La Tiñosa. From here, it is possible to climb La Tiñosa; although the ascent is demanding, it offers spectacular panoramic views. During the descent, you can see unique geological formations, such as the Torta Periglaciar and the Tajo del Andén. Finally, the route continues along the Realenguilla track and the Cuesta Barrero until it enters Priego de Córdoba via Calle Montilla, where the stage ends.
