The stage begins on Calle Arenal in Carcabuey and follows the local Puente Califal trail (SL-A 259) through olive and quince groves until it reaches this Al-Andalus-era structure, which played a key role in linking the ancient Cora de Baguh—now Priego—with Qurtuba, now known as Córdoba. From there, the route joins the GR 341 Caminos de Pasión and the Colada de las Palomas a los Mármoles, following the River Palancar to Zagrilla Alta, where its spring and old washhouse stand out. The route then enters the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park and climbs steeply up the Zuheros pass to Priego, reaching the farmhouse at Hoya de Priego. From this point, you can see the cliffs of Las Buitreras and the southern slope of Cerro Abuchite, home to jackdaws, red-billed choughs and the largest colony of griffon vultures in the natural park. The route continues along the Las Buitreras trail (PR-A 62), passing through mountainous landscapes and alongside the Cortijo de la Nava and the Nava de Luque polje, a depression surrounded by escarpments. Further on, the descent leads through land dominated by olive groves. Finally, the Pomar path leads to the Fuente de la Reina and ends in the town centre of Luque.
