The stage begins at the car park by the Bailón River bridge and follows the public footpath along the Bailón River, one of the most iconic routes in the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park. The route climbs up the Alquería slope to the Portillo threshing floor, from where you can enjoy magnificent views of Zuheros and the surrounding mountains. The rocky cliffs provide a refuge for numerous birds, including the eagle owl, peregrine falcon, griffon vulture, jackdaws and red-billed choughs. Along the Bailón Canyon, karst formations, natural rock shelters and the well-known Cueva del Fraile stand out. Further on, you reach the Fuente de la Mora and the spot known as the Junta de los Arroyos, where the route leaves the riverbed to climb up Cerro Bramadero, passing through a unique forest of dwarf oaks. The route passes by the ruins of the Fuenfría farmhouse, the centuries-old holm oak known as ‘La Serrana’ and the spring of the same name. It continues along the Marchaniega path to the picturesque Nava polje and the well-known Las Chorreras area. Finally, it joins the Picacho and Ermita trails to descend via the Camino Viejo a la Ermita to the Salve farmhouse, where we turn right onto the Piedras Dobles path until we reach the village of Cabra, the end point of the stage.
