An interesting path accessed via the route known as the Camino de los Callejones, serving as a branch of the route to the Ermita de la Esperanza, which is included in the first phase of this Caminos de Cabra project. This route allows you to reach the town centre of Lucena via the old Castro del Río path, or to follow a short circular route starting from the Camino de los Callejones and circling the Cortijo de la Almenta.
Indeed, one of the main attractions of this route is the opportunity to visit some of the largest farmhouses in the area, which lie away from the main roads. Farmhouses such as Los Naranjos, Almenta and Mataosos are situated along the route, showcasing not only the buildings themselves but also elements of agricultural life that, even today, keep them active.
Another attraction of this route is the fabulous panoramic views that, from the edge of the Cabra municipal boundary—and aided by the elevation changes caused by the slopes of this undulating terrain—allow us to see most of the municipality’s area. The sunsets along this route, with the last rays of the sun falling upon the Sierras Subbéticas, a forgotten path and fields of olive trees—in many cases centuries-old—dotted with enormous holm oaks that provide a scenic contrast, greatly enhance the beauty of this route.
As one of the least visited areas of Cabra, and given that access to the path is not immediately obvious, it is well worth discovering as an alternative to the usual routes taken by local walkers and runners.
