Baroque palaces and manor houses, with their unique decorative features such as straight pediments, offer a fascinating cultural and architectural experience.
Lucena’s civil architecture is evident in its ancient palaces, notably the Palace of the Counts of Santa Ana, and in other Baroque-style manor houses; it has also exerted a notable cultural influence on more traditional houses, resulting in the appearance of certain decorative elements such as the straight pediments that crown windows and balconies in vernacular architecture. Some of the civil buildings have been lost, but their façades and certain architectural features have been preserved in their reconstruction, as is the case with the House of the Marquises of Campo de Aras, the House of the Rico de Rueda family, and the Palace of the Counts of Hust. Buildings such as the House of the Mora family and the Convent of Santo Domingo, originally religious in nature, have also changed their use.
