Pilar del Pozuelo
This magnificent pillar is situated a few metres above the Carretera de la Cueva de los Murciélagos (CO-6210).
At the 2.750 km mark, a concrete staircase leads us to this extraordinary structure, which consists of a pillar carved directly out of a large limestone rock using a chisel and hammer. The water that feeds it flows from an upper spring situated at the foot of a curious rock formation composed of breccia, from where a small channel, also carved directly into the rock, directs the water towards the pillar.
Although it is usually dry, water could be seen flowing from it following the heavy rainfall that fell across the region in January and February 2026. It is undoubtedly one of the oldest and most spectacular pillars to be found in the Sierras Subbéticas.
