Tajo el Andén
A large ravine marking the end of the Sierra Alhucemas spur at its north-eastern tip. It is situated some 400 m to the west of the Cortijo de la Peñuela.
According to local shepherds, the name derives from the fact that “you can walk along the gorge”; in other words, it has a narrow ledge along which it is possible to cross its steepest section with hardly any difficulty, although it is not suitable for those with a fear of heights, as it literally hangs over the abyss.
The cover of the Guide to the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park and its surroundings, published in 2008 by the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Sport of the Regional Government of Andalusia, featured a beautiful photograph of the Tajo el Andén.
