Valley of the Fossils

Valley of the Fossils

The area known as the ‘Valley of the Fossils’ is a landscape situated some 6 km south-east of the town centre of Cabra, where olive groves alternate with pat...
Its main attraction is the presence of various outcrops of nodular limestone containing abundant marine fossils dating from the Upper Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, notably ammonites and belemnites. Some of these outcrops can be seen directly on the bed of the Losilla stream. In addition to the stream itself, along much of the route it is possible to observe stratigraphic sections of great interest from both a geological and a palaeontological perspective.
