Puerto del Cerezo

It is a U-shaped pass almost devoid of vegetation, typical of a syncline with a concave curvature.
Its current name derives from an old cherry tree that once stood next to the spring of the same name, which has recently been restored. In the *Libro de la Montería* (14th century), it is referred to as ‘Puerto del Medio’.
The path up to Puerto el Cerezo climbs from the farmhouse of the same name and is one of the most impressive routes in the entire protected natural area. Take advantage of this mountain pass to cross the high escarpments that flank it and head towards Puerto del Espino and the hamlet of Las Lagunillas, on the southern face of La Tiñosa.
