The Shortcut

La Abrevia is a hill rising to an altitude of 1,129 metres and is the highest point in the municipality of Doña Mencía.
It is crowned by a triangulation point registered with the Geodetic and Cadastral Institute under number 096741, built on 16 October 1984, which was in a very poor state of repair until April 2021, when it was restored by Doña Mencía Town Council. The boundary between the municipalities of Doña Mencía and Zuheros runs across its summit. The easiest route up to this summit starts from the Cortijo de las Majada (S), from which it is a distance of around 900 m with an elevation gain of just 100 m. From Doña Mencía, however, La Abrevia presents a majestic sight and involves a climb of over 500 m. On this side, the old Baena to Carcabuey track is an interesting and relatively easy route for ascending to its windswept summit.
