Pozuelo Spring

Pozuelo Spring

A spring situated at an altitude of 832 m on the Camino del Pozuelo, approximately 1.5 km from the start of this livestock track in Zuheros, on the northern ...
It is situated at the foot of an outcrop of nodular limestone from the Jurassic period, which forms the base of the aquifer that feeds the spring and gives the surrounding area striking reddish hues. The fountain consists of three stepped basins of rectangular plan, fed by a small metal spout embedded in a block attached to a pile of stones. Despite its low flow rate, it withstands periods of drought well and has always been an important source of water, both for livestock and for travellers on the road and farmers in the Monteprieto area.
