Church of Santo Domingo

Church of Santo Domingo

Convento histórico con fachada de ladrillo y portada de piedra caliza, destaca por su bóveda de cañón y la imagen de la Purísima en una hornacina.

Santo Domingo de Guzmán was the first convent in Cabra, founded in 1550 on the site of a small chapel, known as La Doctrina, dating from the early 16th century. The present building bears the marks of renovations carried out in various periods, particularly during the second half of the 20th century, when the high altarpiece, featuring a carving of Saint Dominic, was restored. The exposed brick façade features a white limestone doorway with two marble columns whose capitals support a niche containing the image of the Immaculate Conception. The impressive height of the barrel vault is particularly noteworthy.
