The Villa District and the Adarve Balcony

The Villa District and the Adarve Balcony

Calles sinuosas y estrechas, flores, paz y un balcón con vistas al paisaje andaluz hacen de este lugar un destino turístico encantador.

Designateda Historic-Artistic Site in 1972. This is the original town centre of what is now Priego.Clearly inspired by medieval and Muslim influences, it is akin to the most typical Andalusian neighbourhoods, such as Granada’s Albaicín or Córdoba’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are winding, white and narrow, forming aperfect blend of harmony and beauty, of flowers, peace and tranquillity, of lime and stone. Although we invite the visitor to lose themselves in its labyrinths and narrow streets,we recommend a routethat starts at Plaza de Santa Ana, follows Calle Real to the beautiful and secluded Placita de San Antonio, continues along Calle Jazmines, then crossing Calle Real once more and heading out via Bajondillo to the Adarve,an open balcony overlooking theAndalusianlandscapethat embraces and surrounds the Barrio de la Villa. A natural gorge with a considerable drop, it has ensured Priego’s impregnability from this vantage point throughout its history.
