The Alamillo bunkers

The Alamillo bunkers

Impresionantes búnkeres de la Guerra Civil con casamatas, trincheras y galerías subterráneas, ofrecen una experiencia educativa y arquitectónica única.

Alongside the Vía Verde del Aceite, there stand some impressive bunkers dating from the Spanish Civil War. These architectural features are exceptional iron and concrete witnesses to our last civil war. Comprising several casemates, a redoubt-style bunker, trenches, underground tunnels, etc., they offer visitors an opportunity to learn about and appreciate this architecture, a precursor to that which would be built later during the Second World War.

The area was strategic from the outset of the military uprising, and was fortified with barbed wire and reinforced with trenches and a few small structures. What we can see today was built in late 1938 and early 1939, withstanding the passage of time to remind us and educate us about the values of darker times.
