Civil clock tower

Civil clock tower

Torre urbana de Luque, ejemplo raro de arquitectura civil del siglo XIX en Andalucía, destaca por su reloj de campanas detenido desde el siglo XIX.

The Civil Clock Tower is located in the town centre of Luque, very close to the Chapel of San Nicolás Tolentino and the Chapel of La Aurora. It was built in 1820 and fitted with a bell clock driven by weights. It has stood still ever since its clockmaker, Miguel, took the secret of its workings to his grave. Its significance lies in the fact that it is a civil building. In the 19th century, in the small villages of Andalusia, most of the buildings constructed were of a religious nature, with civil buildings being few and far between. Old Clock of Luque Town Hall.
