TRUFFLE MYCOLOGICAL GARDEN

Situated within a UNESCO Geopark, this site offers unique natural beauty and is ideal for birdwatching, as it is a Special Area of Conservation and Protection.

The La Trufa Mycological Garden, a pioneer of its kind and the only one of its sort in Europe, is situated near the village of Zagrilla in the Priego region, within theSierras Subbéticas Natural Park. It takes its name from the summer truffle, a species similar to the black truffle, which is usually found in grazed holm oak woodlands with less vegetation cover than those where the black truffle is found, and which is adapted to a wider temperature range and lower rainfall.

This unique and beautiful area has been designateda UNESCO Global Geoparkand is recognised as a Natura 2000 Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA).
