Parish Church of Our Lady of the Rosary

Parish Church of Our Lady of the Rosary

Iglesia con huertos originales, jardín cercado, fachada con espadaña de ladrillo y nave única con bóvedas y capillas dedicadas a santos y la Virgen.

Some sources date its construction to the mid-17th century, around 1690, and mention its councillor, Mr Diego Cano. However, other documents suggest that the church was built around 1778, based on an inscription found on the main dome of the church. As for the exterior of the church, its three courtyards, which have been preserved since its construction, are particularly noteworthy, as is a small main garden enclosed by the original railing. On the exterior, the façade where the main entrance is located is particularly noteworthy. The complex is crowned by a brick bell gable consisting of two tapering sections. Inside, the layout features a single nave with a transept, clearly defined on the ceiling by its ribbed vaults divided by transverse arches. The apse is flat with star-shaped decoration. It also houses four chapels dedicated to the Virgin Mary (High Altar), Saint Isidore (Patron Saint of Fuente Tójar), the Chapel of Saint Francis and the Chapel of the Tabernacle.
