The natural surroundings of Encinas Reales and the River Genil
The green blanket of olive groves in Encinas Reales lends the area around the town an almost idyllic atmosphere, allowing visitors to escape on leisurely walks that offer a unique experience. Indeed, one cannot visit Encinas Reales without enjoying its natural surroundings.
The sea of olive trees surrounding the municipality is bathed by two rivers, the Genil and the Anzur, the latter a tributary of the former. Both are inextricably linked to the lives of the village’s inhabitants. Proof of this can be seen in the wonderful sites built alongside these natural water sources, such as the Tajo de Mariano, Tajo del Basto and Tajo del Chirrín
In addition to the olive trees, a variety of rose bushes, oleanders, white poplars, holm oaks, tamarisk, ash trees and brambles blend their rustling with the song of nightingales, lesser kestrels and turtle doves, thus enhancing the visitor’s stroll.
