Viewpoints in Iznájar

Vistas espectaculares al embalse y olivares, con miradores históricos y culturales, ideales para disfrutar de la tranquilidad y la naturaleza.

Given Iznájar’s location, it is easy to see why so many spots look as though they were the balconies of a single house that happened to be the village itself. For visitors, they all offer a haven of tranquillity from which to enjoy the views of the reservoir that surrounds the village and the hillsides dotted with olive groves.

- La Villa Viewpoint: Right in the heart of the historic centre, next to the Antonio Quintana Museum, there is a viewpoint offering views of the Sierra de las Ventanas and one of the tributaries of our reservoir, the Priego stream. When the reservoir is not at full capacity, it offers a view of the Molinillo Bridge, the old road, a factory chimney and remnants of Iznájar’s past that were submerged by the waters.

- Cruz de San Pedro Viewpoint: At the highest point of the village stands the Cruz de San Pedro Viewpoint, a prime spot for viewing the reservoir and the sunsets. Next to this viewpoint is the Open-Air Theatre, where cultural activities take place during the summer months.  We can enjoy a panoramic view of the historic centre, the Barrio de la Villa, the cave houses of El Peñón, the castle, the Parish Church of Santiago Apóstol and the Clock Tower. From here, we can access the Miradores de las Peñas.

- Las Peñas Viewpoint. Located on the street running parallel to the Cruz de San Pedro, where we find natural rock ledges offering views of the reservoir. On these ledges are a series of tiles featuring poems by local artist Antonio Quintana.

- Las Tres Cruces Viewpoint, where visitors can get close to nature by entering a pine forest offering wonderful views.

- Las Canteras Viewpoint. Located in the lower part of the town, where the views show Iznájar as if it were a ship sailing out onto the water.

- Cruz de Postigo Viewpoint. An ideal spot for a stroll and to take in the tranquillity of the reservoir’s waters.

- Puerta del Rey Viewpoint. Situated on the steepest street in the village, it offers beautiful views of the reservoir.
