The Fuente de la Gancha, situated in a natural setting surrounded by olive groves and vegetable gardens on the outskirts of Carcabuey, is a historic spring and a landmark of great ethnographic and hydrological value to the municipality. Like other springs in the Subbética region, this natural spring has traditionally been used by local farmers as a water supply point and a watering place for livestock, playing a fundamental role in the local agricultural economy. Today, the Fuente de la Gancha stands out not only for the freshness and purity of its groundwater from the karst massif, but also for being part of attractive walking and cycling routes that invite visitors to discover the rich network of springs, irrigation channels and traditional landscapes that characterise the rural surroundings of Carcabuey.
