Priego de Córdoba Bullring

Construida en 1892, esta plaza única está excavada en roca, tiene dos pisos con palcos y capacidad para 7,000 personas, siendo un atractivo turístico notable.

Its construction was completed in 1892. It is unique in that it is carved out of rock; it comprises two storeys, with boxes on the upper level, and is equipped with all the facilities required by the regulations. Its official capacity is 7,000 spectators. It was inaugurated on 7 August 1892 with a bullfight featuring six bulls from the herd of Mr Eduardo Miura, which were killed, one by one, by Rafael Molina ‘Lagartijo’ and Rafael Bejarano ‘Torerito’. Other significant bullfighting dates include the bullfight held on 7 August 1890, whilst the bullring was still under construction, in which the matador Rafael Guerra “Guerrita” fought six five-year-old bulls from the herd of the Dowager Marquise of Saltillo. On 2 September 1932, a bullfight was held in honour of Mr Niceto Alcalá Zamora, the first President of the Second Spanish Republic, featuring the matadors Marcial Lalanda, Manuel Bienvenida and Domingo Ortega, with bulls from the Manuel Arranz ranch. The bullfight commemorating the centenary took place on 8 August 1992, featuring bulls from the Luis Algarra Polera ranch, which replaced those from the Marquis of Ruchena announced on the poster, for the bullfighters Miguel Báez "Litri", Julio Aparicio and Finito de Córdoba
