Fuente histórica con abrevadero y lavadero oculto por muros, donde las mujeres lavan ropa incluso en invierno, según Juan Valera.

Also known as the ‘Fuente del Ejido’ by Juan Valera, who described it at length in his works. It was built when Doña Mencía became a municipality, around 1653, and was one of the natural springs used by the inhabitants of Doña Mencía since the town’s foundation. It consists of a fountain, a drinking trough and a washing area; the latter having the distinctive feature, as described by the writer Juan Valera, of being“... enclosed by walls that hid it from the view of passers-by, where women go to wash their clothes, with their petticoats rolled up to their thighs and their knees in the water, as is the custom there even in the depths of winter”.
