Monument to Aniseed

Monument to Aniseed

An old still stands out as a cultural symbol in Rute, evoking the tradition of aniseed distillation and attracting tourists with its history.

Rute Town Council, in collaboration with the Rute Association of Aniseed Liqueur and Spirit Producers, erected this monument, which was unveiled on 13 May 1995, as a mark of respect for the culture and tradition it represents for our town.

An old still proclaims, in new forms, the memory of this tradition. Here it lies, dreaming of sunsets. Maturing, aged, distilled essences. Here it lies, upon the hard, rough earth, the aniseed flower, brought from Rute.
