San Juan de Dios Hospital and Church

Ubicado en Priego, destaca por su arquitectura barroca con cúpula de media naranja y cubierta de cañón, ideal para los amantes del arte y la historia.

It was founded in 1637 by Juan de Herrera, dedicated to Saint Onuphrius. Theoriginal churchwas demolished in 1696, and the present church was built by Francisco Hurtado Izquierdo, who completed it in 1717. It consists of a single nave with ashort transeptfeaturinga half-dome, without a drum or lantern, but with friezes that foreshadow thefluted domes characteristic of Priega’s Baroque architecture. The roof isbarrel-vaulted.
