The Station - Nature Classroom

Espacio natural con actividades ecológicas, parque urbano con auditorio, juegos, pista de skate, zonas de escalada y estacionamiento para autocaravanas.

In 1893, the first trains ran through Lucena, and one of the main services on that new railway was the transport of bulk oil. Such was its importance that the railway became popularly known as the ‘Oil Train’. This section of the railway remained in operation until 1985, when it was closed after almost a century of service. Twenty years later, that route was revived through the Subbética Greenway.

It is a local resource that promotes knowledge of the natural environment of the town and the region. It serves as a tool for offering various environmental activities to different groups, enabling them to connect with nature and make the most of the resources it offers.
It reinforces the social, educational and awareness-raising work carried out by schools, associations and the local authority itself in the field of ecology.
In the area of the old Lucena Station, there are various facilities, offering visitors a wide range of services, including a restaurant, landscaped areas, bicycle parking, a children’s play area, a skateboard park and a large car park.
Also in the same area is a large family leisure and recreation complex, Parque Europa, which features various zones for the enjoyment of all our residents and visitors. This is an urban park featuring a small open-air auditorium, a children’s play village, event spaces, a dog park, a kiosk, a fitness trail, water features, children’s play equipment and table games, a multi-sports pitch, a skate park and parkour area, a pétanque court, a climbing area, a calisthenics zone and a lakeside area. This complex also features a motorhome parking area, which, together with the areas at Las Navas del Selpillar and Jauja, completes the offering for this type of tourism, providing an alternative, flexible and comfortable travel experience that allows travellers to enjoy their destinations with greater freedom and independence.
