Vegetation of Palenciana

Paisaje agrícola con olivares y almendros, ideal para explorar caminos rurales y disfrutar de vistas al río Genil.

The area’s native vegetation has been cleared away due to the intensive agricultural use to which the region has been subjected since ancient times. The area’s distinctly human-shaped landscape has resulted in vegetation dominated by various types of crops, confining the original vegetation to the steep slopes near the River Genil. The current vegetation of Palenciana consists mainly of woody crops such as olive and almond groves, alongside plots dedicated to irrigated arable crops (winter cereals for fodder) and others under rain-fed conditions (primarily wheat). Ruderal species, typical of humanised environments, are also common along the edges of paths and between plots.
