Llana Street

Llana Street

Ubicada en el casco antiguo, destaca por su cercanía a las murallas del castillo y la emblemática Torre del Homenaje, ofreciendo un viaje al pasado histórico.

It is known as the oldest street in the town. Located in the old town, it lies close to the castle walls and is dominated by one of its most iconic towers, ‘La Torre del Homenaje’, where a lithograph of the Virgin of La Cabeza is housed in a niche. Much of Doña Mencía’s history begins on this street, as its origins date back to the town’s founding in the 15th century and the construction of the castle. All the castle’s governors lived here, and the house that belonged to one of them, the Alcalá-Galiano family, is still preserved. On the same street, another house remains: that of the Valera family, noblemen who made our town their permanent home.
