Subbetica
Constitution Promenade
The Paseo de la Constitución is a two-level square located right in the centre of Iznájar. It is a place where children, young people and older people can relax.
The Paseo, as it is known in Iznájar, is a very popular spot because it is home to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mercy, the patron saint of Iznájar.
From the Paseo, you can enjoy wonderful views of the Coso gorges, the imposing Parish Church of St James the Apostle, the Tower of St Raphael, and the hillside of the cemetery... And from the side of the Sanctuary, you can see the two main tributaries of the Iznájar reservoir, the Priego Stream and the River Genil.
From this vantage point, you can also see some of the mountain ranges of the Subbética, such as the Sierra de Rute and the Sierra de Priego. Water and olive trees come together here, reflecting the character of this town.
During the summer months, a beach bar is set up on the ground floor of the Paseo, featuring a terrace where it is very pleasant to enjoy the cool summer evenings with stunning views of the illuminated cliffs of El Coso and the Villa district.
