THE SUBBÉTICA MURAL ROUTE

THE SUBBÉTICA MURAL ROUTE

Various corners of the Subbética region in Córdoba are brought together through artistic creativity and colour, thanks to a route that connects the towns in our region through art. Fourteen large-scale works – one for each town – scattered across iconic locations in our white villages, pay tribute to the tradition, craftsmanship and floral spirit so characteristic of this land. These artistic creations are produced using two different techniques; on the one hand, a series of graffiti murals painted by the Seville-based artist Fabián Bravo Guerrero, known as Kato — the creator of over 700 urban art projects internationally — will form part of the landscape of towns such as Benamejí, Cabra, Encinas Reales, Lucena, Luque, Palenciana, Priego de Córdoba and Zuheros. On the other hand, the towns of Carcabuey, Doña Mencía, Almedinilla, Fuente-Tójar, Rute and Iznájar will showcase various ceramic creations that will adorn façades over an area of around 5 m², fired in a kiln and produced using the ‘cuerda seca’ or glaze technique by the renowned Priego-based artist Merche López.
