Iberian fortified settlement on Cerro del Castillejo (La Hoz)

Fortificación ibérica con escarpes estratégicos, control visual del río y senderos, muros integrados en la roca natural, ideal para exploración histórica.

One of the so-called Iberian fortified sites is located at a place known as 'Cerro del Castillejo'. This site is strategically well-positioned, with steep slopes on all sides, clearly serving to control the River La Hoz and the roads and paths that run alongside it. It is likely that the place name derives from the remains of structures emerging from the Iberian fortification itself.

It features a structure bounded by walls, somewhat complex with several concentric rings, and does not conform to a square or rectangular layout. The natural rock itself forms an integral part of some of the walls. The masonry used does not consist of large, cyclopean-style blocks, which can be seen in other similar fortifications in the municipality, but rather medium and small-sized stones.
