The Iberian fortified settlement of La Torre
One of the so-called Iberian fortified settlements is located at a site known as ‘La Torre’. The archaeological site on this hill, which rises to an altitude of 638 metres and has a barren summit, is situated at a relatively strategic point; although not particularly high, it features steep drops down towards the Solerche stream, which flows a short distance away.
Hardly any visible structures remain of what must have been this tower, and it is likely that the place took its name from the Iberian fortification itself. Only part of the eastern wall is visible, of which a single course of medium-sized ashlars remains, and the pottery found is limited to fragments of Iberian ware, featuring geometric dot patterns, and Roman industrial pottery.
