Micla Museum Gallery

Micla Museum Gallery

Espacio cultural único que permite interactuar con el arte contemporáneo y sus creadores, destacando la belleza de la imperfección y la conciencia ecológica.

The Micla art space has emerged as a non-profit cultural association, an initiative by Pepe Luna that transforms his home/studio into a venue for exhibiting contemporary art, taking it out of the cities and bringing it closer to a diverse audience who can, at the same time, engage in dialogue on site with the artist and his creative processes. Micla also serves as an opportunity or platform for showcasing the work of other artists outside the usual institutional circuits or conventional art spaces.

Formally speaking, Pepe’s work finds its meaning in the beauty of imperfection; the error in the digital image (glitch) inspires the colour sequences in his pieces, replacing the randomness of the computer glitch with a meticulous selection of colour on every small piece of paper. This fascination with the imperfect, the irregular, the broken or worn is equally evident in his ceramic works, which display impeccable technique and finish.

Behind the great plasticity of these works lies the idea of an unreal world presented through an aesthetic presence as the predominant value; in short, a diagnosis of a world in constant conflict, analysed through Rorschach tests, barcodes and faulty software.

Both in his choice of materials (mainly paper and clay) and in the message underlying his pieces, Pepe is an artisanal hacker championing ecological and economic awareness from a rural perspective.
